Panaji: Rated among the top 10 music festivals of India, the 37th edition of the Surashree Kersarbai Kerkar Sangeet Samaroha will be organized by Kala Academy, Panaji, from November 3 to 5. Kala Academy chairman and minister for art and culture Govind Gaude will inaugurate the festival at 5.45pm on November 3 at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy.
A symposium on ‘Future of Indian Classical Music’ will be held as a curtain rasier from 10.30am-1.30pm on November 3 at the Black Box with music experts Arawind Thatte, Shashank Maktedar and Chaitanya Kunte in participation. It will be moderated by music critic Mukund Sangoram.
After the inaugural function, vocalist Pt Ulhas Kashalkar will present a classical vocal concert at 6pm.
On November 4, the session will begin at 10.30am with a classical vocal concert by Devaki Pandit Nambeear followed by an instrumental jugalbandi by Pt Yogesh Samsi (tabla) and Vijay Natesan (mridangam).
On the third and final day, Pt Raghunandan Panshikar will present a vocal concert at 10.30am, followed by a sitar concert by Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan at 12pm. The last session of the festival will begin at 4.30pm with vocal recital by Komal Sane.
