New Delhi-based third generation label printer Kwality Offset Printers is now the proud owner of India’s first Digicon Series 3, the world’s fastest semi-rotary die-cutting machine, which runs at 150m/min. The machine also features print enhancement facilities along with finishing.
The Digicon Series 3 is equipped with 330mm web width, cold and flatbed hot foiling, flatbed screen printing unit, two flexo printing units (for special colour), UV curing systems, embossing, varnish, waste rewinder, horizontal dancing rollers and other features.
The die-cutting and print enhancement machine was supplied and installed by Vinsak, the Indian representative of ABG International. Vinsak has installed total eight Digicon kits in India.
Rajeev Chhatwal of Kwality Offset Printers said, “We have installed the Digicon Series 3 to explore new segments for our business. We will target high-end packaging for cosmetics and liquor.”
Chhatwal said before investing in Digicon, the company explored an equivalent option from China. However, it turned out that the kind of configuration Kwality has installed was beyond the capacity of the machines manufactured in China.
“So we went for the Digicon. It is 40% more expensive than the available Chinese equivalent,” said Chhatwal, adding, “However, the biggest advantage with ABG is its after-sale services available through Vinsak.”
Chhatwal added that the full utilisation of the machine will take around six month’s time. “The Digicon gives us ample opportunities for innovation. It also supports our digital set up, which includes a Xeikon 3030 plus digital label press along with the existing set up for label printing.”
On the current market scenario, Chhatwal said the year is going to be a bumpy ride after demonetisation and GST regime. “We are hopeful that the condition will improve in 2018 and the label industry will continue to grow at its normal rate of 5% and above.
